Commonly question about How To Control Your Anxiety Before It Controls You

Question :

How do I control my social anxiety?

Hi, I m Cesar, 17 years old, and I am pretty nice to hang around with. But there s just one thing that I can t control sometimes, and that is, my social anxiety. I feel like I want to say something but I can t, and whatever I say comes out awkward. Even if I stay in silence it is very awkward sometimes. It s just weird, and I would like to know how to control this anxiety before it goes any further. Thank you for your time.
Answer :
Sometimes I feel the same way you do, Cesar. The question is somewhat vague, so I m not sure how I can answer this really well.

What i try to do when I feel like I m just "off" and everything I say is just awkward, I just try and stay confident. I learned once I was confident and poised when I spoke, I became I funnier person to be with.

The hard part about this is gaining confidence, I m sure you could Google how to do this and there would be a million exercises for gaining confidence.

What works for me, even though it makes me sound like a jerk is I try and sometimes remind myself that I m the best in the world at my talents. It probably isn t true, but it s all in your head, if I convince myself that I m a funny person or something like that, it is more likely to come true. Think about how the guys that get all the ladies are always really confident and think they re studs. At one point they weren t but once they chose to become cocky (which is different from confident), they got what they wanted.

I hope this helps!

but yea
Answer :
I don t really do much acting, but I did a drama class last year and heaps of speeches in English, and I personally think that positive thinking really works. Just say to yourself: "Okay, I know my stuff, I ve alway done well before, I ve practiced and it s going to be okay." When you are up on stage, don t worry about what other people think, just perform the best you can. If you really want to do acting, then just do it. I agree that it is a hard business, but you don t need to think about that on stage.
Question :

How long did it take you to get treated for anxiety?

So i go back to school at the end of august, as do most students. I want to get my anxiety under control before then. Is there enough time between now and then to get treated by a psychiatrist?
Answer :
It s enough time to start seeing a psychiatrist, but as for curing your anxiety, that depends. The psychiatrist has to figure out or at least have a general idea of what is causing your anxiety, what the symptoms are, how bad it is, and whether or not medicine is required. I ve been seeing a therapist for about half a year now and I ve been able to keep my anxiety under control but it hasn t completely gone away. I still experience some symptoms almost every night. Maybe a psychiatrist would know better. You might as well try, but it s still hard to tell how long it ll take. In the meantime, try some mental exercises. Breath deeply in and out, distract yourself, convince yourself that everything is going to be all right. The key is to stop thinking about it. Good luck.
