Bipolar mood disorder has been misunderstood by many people making them more confused about what it is all about. This is a disorder that describes the conditions in which a person's mood varies from elation to depression. It can be mild or severe and some of the people will only exhibit signs of excitement and elation.

Some of the signs that indicate that a person is suffering from this condition vary from maniac and depression symptoms. Some of the mania signs include an elevated mood characterized by extreme happiness and energy and they will constantly describe the feeling as being on top of the world. These high energy and excitement often leads to over-activity, minimized needs of sleep. The person will also exhibit rapid speech and thinking and they may end up jumping from one topic to another. They also experience lack of exhibitions and will act without considering the consequences of their actions. Some of them come up with grandiose plans and will not have the insight. Though they will understand why other people consider their plans irrational and reckless they will not see how the actions are inappropriate on their own.

Depression in people suffering from bipolar mood disorder might be caused by sad events or stressful ones but some of them will get depressed over nothing. The person will suddenly lose interest in different types of activities they used to enjoy before. This disinterest will cause them to withdraw from their friends and avoid social activities as well as other simple daily activities. Some of them will be overwhelmed with the sadness and most ends up losing weight, losing concentration and may end up experiencing feelings of hopelessness and guilt. Some of them may attempt to commit suicide as they see their lives as being meaningless or because they feel guilty to go on living. Others will come up with different beliefs of guilt, persecution or that they are evil.
