According to the National Institute of Mental Health, anxiety disorders affect about 40 million American adults each year. Anxiety disorders may affect the quality of your lifestyle and are capable of completely destroying your life if not treated immediately.

Anxiety and depression are the most serious illnesses in the world. Those who suffer from generalized anxiety disorders experience an exaggerated, intense state of worry, tension and fear. These experiences are most often accompanied with physical symptoms such as nervousness, difficulty in breathing, twitching, headaches, sweating, hot flashes, cold chills, light headiness and nausea. Because people are different, anxiety disorder symptoms and their affects will vary from person to person.

Anxiety disorders, if untreated, often lead to depression. Anxiety attacks can happen at any time, anywhere and are categorized as a sudden attack of fear and can also be a combination of both fear and apprehension. Symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder are caused by an imbalance of a natural brain chemical known as serotonin. Too much of this chemical is one of the major causes of generalized anxiety disorder.

To help repair this unbalance, is the application of antianxiety medications. Our brain cells (neurons), use chemicals called neurotransmitters to communicate with one another. The antianxiety medications work on the neurons in the brain to reduce the symptoms of anxiety. All of the current medications are very successful and effective in binding to the parts of neurons that are involved in producing these symptoms of anxiety. These medications bind to the parts of neurons that reduce anxiety as well, therefore soothing excitability and generally bringing calmness to the people who use them.

The variation of anxiety disorder symptoms can often cause sufferers to be filled with fear and uncertainty and can last up to at least 6 months. If not treated in time, preferably in it's earlier stages, this same anxiety disorder is capable of getting much worse and also lasting for a much longer period of time.

The six most common anxiety disorders are panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, also known as (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social phobia or social anxiety disorder, specific phobias and generalized anxiety disorder, or (GAD). Each of these anxiety disorders have different symptoms, but all of these symptoms posses a common thread and that is an excessive amount of irrational fear and worry. This anxiety disorder is compounded by the fact that an individual is continually wondering and worrying about when the next panic attack will occur. These sufferers (GAD), are constantly surrounded by things in general that can easily worry and stress them out to very extreme levels.

The fearful and worrisome anxiety that is constantly experienced by individuals with generalized anxiety disorders, are severe enough to be quite distressing emotionally and may also interfere with their ability to function in social settings, at their work and in other important areas of their lives.

Commonly question about Do You Suffer From Generalized Anxiety Disorder Symptoms?

Question :

Anyone suffer from generalized anxiety? What treatment do you get to help?

I ve suffered for nearly a yr now and some days its fine and other days its a "bad" day and i just feel stressed and anxious about everything, even doing simple tasks. What kind of treaments or therapies help?
Answer :
you need to consult a psychiatrist. they will evaluate you and offer different routes you can take. there are medications to help "take the edge off" and most likely, talk therapy will be suggested. you can figure out with their help what s at the root of your anxiety and find ways to deal and cope with it. usually a combination of medication AND talk therapy is best.
Question :

Does anyone else here suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder?

If you do tell me what you experience and how do you cope.
Answer :
Generalized anxiety disorder is a symptom if you don t have enough chromium and magnesium! seriously, google to see for yourself! I don t know if you have depression or not, but if you do: a deficiency in potassium, zinc, copper, iron, vitamin B12, vitamin B6, and vitamin B5 causes depression. you can always get your nutrient levels checked out by the doctor/nurse. they will take a blood test to see if you re low in any of them.

make sure that you re eating healthy and you also might want to include spirulina and chia seeds in your daily meals. also, you might want to take a multivitamin or at least a vitamin B-complex supplement (it s like a multivitamin, but has only the B-vitamins in them. like vitamin B12, vitamin B6, vitamin B5, etc.. because you seem to be lacking these nutrients).

Nutrition has a MAJOR effect on how we feel emotionally!! I personally know plenty of people who have cured their anxiety, depression, etc.. with nutrition.
PS: coffee, excessive alcohol, and medication deplete (takes away) nutrition.

I read A LOT about nutrition on my own!!
Question :

Does anyone suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder?

How and when did you find out and what do you feel like or what did you feel like before? How do you help yourself?
Answer :
I didn t notice or understand what anxiety really was until I saw a therapist and was diagnosed with anxiety and depression a couple of years ago. I knew I had it when I started feeling incredibly overwhelmed and scared of something that wasn t tangible, with a tight chest/difficulty breathing every afternoon from about 4pm to 7pm.

My therapist and I tried treating my anxiety and depression with Welbutrin and Benzos, then Welbutrin and Xanax, then just Welbutrin, and then finally Prozac. I started smoking at the onset, too.

Prozac was the only drug treatment that worked, and even it wasn t 100% (I felt kind of numb every once in awhile). But then I got pregnant and my symptoms subsided for both anxiety and depression. My OB told me that this can happen with pregnancy, but I m really hoping that it doesn t ever come back.

It s nasty stuff and I ve found (sadly) that most people don t really understand what it means to have these disorders unless they ve gone through it themselves. People can be really cruel or insensitive about mental disorders, so my heart really goes out to you and I hope that you can find help that works.

Also: Prozac really does negatively impact sex drive, so if you re considering it, please consider that it might literally wipe out all interest in sex and your ability to get "turned on" like it did for me. In my case, the benefits of Prozac greatly outweighed the negative sexual side effects, but every individual is different.
