Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder that causes radical emotional changes and mood swings from manic highs to depressive lows. Formerly this condition was known as manic depression. There are two types of bipolar disease: manic episodes and depressive episodes. Manic episodes can be further divided into hypomania and full-blown mania, where hypomania is simply a state of experiencing high energy levels. Whereas, full-blown mania tends to have more shocking effect on person with bipolar complaint. There are other facets of illness also responsible and can be lead to suicidal tendency due to lack of information on bipolar's, in such cases bipolar prescription medications or psychotherapists can be of help in regaining normal life.

Signs of bipolar disorder include intense impulses, lack of sleep and extreme restlessness, over agitation, over irritability and annoying moods which are beyond normal limits, suicidal thoughts. Signs of this disorder can be so severe that they impact the work or study life of persons with irregular moods. There are several common disorder symptoms that can mark itself during the span of the mood. These symptoms may occur in increased energy levels of activity, severe irritability, provocative and intrusive behavior, poor judgment, lack of concentration and aggression or excitability. Again, depressive episodes have several common symptoms which can range from ideas or thought of death and contemplating suicide, hopelessness, helplessness, worthlessness, a sad or empty mood that may last from days to months on end.

Bipolar test include certain signs of mania and depression of disorder. It is very important regarding overall diagnosis of the condition, and patients are subjected to a questionnaire regarding details about their medical history and other health related questions. It determines whether or not a person has the disorder and if so how severe the condition is.

Bipolar diagnosis criteria also share many of signs and symptoms associated with other psychiatric illnesses such as anxiety disorders and schizophrenia. Bipolar disorder diagnosis has a strong genetic component. Therefore, if there is a family history of depression there's a chance the patient may have it as well.

Im curious because i think i have it. Im either very excited and happy (for a short time) and then i ll crash and become depressed most of the day. and it fluctuates every day. BiPolar is a disorder that swings from extreme highs to very low lows. It can happen daily or it can happen after several days at one end of the swing. Google BiPolar Disorder you can a list of symptoms.

Lithium is the old stand by med for this disorder. It helps the brain level out so there are no longer the extreme swings of mood and the other symptoms are more easily handled. There are newer meds used that help as well.

It is a disorder best treated by a trained doctor.

I am Bipolar as well... Diagnosed depressed @ 17.... Bipolar FINALLY at 22... Now Im 26... It is an aweful thing when its not controlled... YES!! There IS help!!! I haven t found a helpline.... if you do- let me know!! Typically they put you on a mood stabilizer and anti-depressant- I went through a gammet of prescriptions and it sucks because each person is different on what works well with their body and how frequently they cycle etc... as far as sadness goes... Omega-3 pills are ESSENTIAL as are B-COMPLEX- also... walk 3x a wk 30 min- it actually works... Dont watch a movie that will make you sad- shoot- if Im really sad- I ll watch SpongeBob just to get my mind out of myself... If you need to- feel free to email me-

What medications would be best to treat Anxiety, Depression, Adult ADD, Bipolar Disorder?

I know I have Anxiety and Depression, and as a child I had ADD and still show signs of it. The bipolar disorder I am not sure for fact, but my family believes do also. Sometimes I can just let stuff pass, other days I will blow up over the stupidest things, and its like I have no control over it, it takes over its the only thing I can think about. Now I don t like hit people or anything, worst thing I do when I get worked up is drive a little more aggressively than I should. Now for the anxiety part my doctor tried me on Celax, and I did not like that medication at all. My doctor has never tried me on Xanax, but I have tried it a few times, my mother has given me some to try as she is on it. It calms me down, could that medication help with all the disorders, besides ADD? I just want help, and honestly I am kind of scared of Xanax, but if it helps it helps.

Go see a Psychoanalyst ( not a simple psychologist, nor a psychiatrist). By letting you to talk like you want to ( free association). He / her will help you to find and understand the causes of everything you named on here. Then that could be cured. They are only symptoms !
Most time the causes of depression / anxiety etc.. Are deep in our subconscious, because they started with our education during our childhood ( with our parents or people who raised us).
Don t think Psychoanalysts are expensive, since most of them adapt their prices in accordance with the income of people. Feel free to search another if the one you find doesn t do that, it s your right !

Psychologists are not adapted because they don t work on our subconscious for find the causes. As for psychiatrists well, they just give pills that only hide the symptoms, but never fix them. That means that, as soon as you stop the pills, the symptoms appear again. Moreover they are dangerous ( addiction risk). Unless you find a psychiatrist who is also a Psychoanalyst of course.
