Is Yahoo Q/A prejudiced against the poor? Booting ppl w/o their own internet?
Like many people that belonged to MSN Groups for years, I suddenly found myself without communities to check & share with when MSN closed all of their free sites in February. Slowly, quite a few of us seem to be making our way here. I ve coaxed a few of my local friends to come over to Q/A to wile away their time while they try to find good sites to join. Two of these men ran their own sites for years, but are having troubles Yahoo Q/A.Unfortunately, one of them just went through a divorce and uses the computer of another friend. Several people I know use public library computers, and several others I know use college computers. In every case that I know of, they ve all had their accounts suspended within weeks of starting.
Looking at a couple of the notices 2 of them received (the "content posted was in violation" thing) I can t see what was wrong with their posts. There was no cursing or offensive terminology in the copied text provided in the notice, so I can t understand why they were booted. The only thing I can think of is that they were using public/ school or other ppl s comps (which pretty much rules out letting them come over here to use mine, right?).
So, is Yahoo prejudiced against poor ppl or those going through hard times for any reason. Do their policies or autmoated program somehow prevent thousand of ppl from being able to join and stay on Yahoo Q? If this is the case, I know thousands just in my own city will not qualify for regular membership here, since I see the 50-plus computers at our local library filled every time I go by there for my own college research papers. Should I be worried that I m using the wireless server provided here at my apartment, instead of getting my own cable internet? Does this affect ppl using WiFi at public coffee houses and such?
Does anyone have any answers or similar experiences to report?
I know exactly what you mean, there are quite a lot of people who use my computer & three of their accounts were suspended immediately after mine was & the same reason given.I know a lot of people who use computers in libraries or the mall. Does YA treat them all like this?

The issue is NOT with using public-access computers. If that were the case, the thousands of kids using the site through school computers would all get suspended.
The most likely problem lies in this statement of yours:

The wile away their time issue and the fact that you have transferred here from an MSN Group is probably the issue. You most like are using the site for chatting instead of true Q&A. There are many, many rules on this site, but one of the most frequently broken ones is -- NO CHATTING.
Yahoo has its own Groups -- take your friends and wander over there, make your own group, chat to your heart s content. Then they won t get suspended.
